Stepping Forward with Resilience

Solomon’s journey with Building Hope Project began under challenging circumstances. After facing years of housing instability and extended time out of school, he returned to Jinja as a teenager with little formal education. At nearly 14 years old, he was placed in Primary 2 but quickly demonstrated remarkable intelligence and discipline. He was promoted mid-year to Primary 3 and became known across Kiira Primary School for his leadership—often guiding classmates in reading sessions and stepping up when teachers were away. His drive and character made him a natural fit for BHP, where access to school fees, daily meals, and encouragement gave him the consistency he needed to thrive.

During the COVID-19 lockdown, Solomon stood out in BHP’s Seed of Hope skilling program, quickly learning trades like crocheting and offering guidance to his peers. These skills became more than just training—they became a lifeline. Solomon has since used what he learned to generate a steady income, helping him provide for himself and support his young family. He remains closely connected to the BHP community through ongoing opportunities, mentorship, and alumni support. His journey reflects the long-lasting impact of practical empowerment and the strength of a young man determined to build a better future.
