A New Chapter: BHP Expands Sponsorship to Secondary School Students

This school year marks an exciting and historic milestone for Building Hope Project (BHP) alumni! For the first time since our founding, we are expanding our sponsorship program beyond primary education, offering scholarships to Jinja Secondary School—one of the most respected institutions in the area.

This expansion is a game-changer for our students. Many of them are the first in their families to reach this level of education, making this moment not just a personal victory but a generational breakthrough. As they step into secondary school, they do so with immense joy, gratitude, and a renewed sense of purpose.

A Seamless Transition to Success

Our priority was to ensure a smooth transition for our students from Kiira Primary School to Jinja Secondary School. To achieve this, we took several key steps:

• Student Selection & Home Visits – We met with selected students to offer guidance and encouragement.

• Parent Orientation – We held meetings with families to set clear expectations and foster a supportive learning environment.

• School Partnership Meetings – We worked closely with Jinja Secondary’s administration to ensure a strong collaboration.

• Campus Tours – Our students had the chance to explore their new school, helping them feel comfortable and prepared for this next stage.

After months of preparation, seven incredible students proudly walked through the gates of Jinja Secondary School for their first day of high school—an unforgettable moment made possible by the generosity of our supporters.

Building Bridges Between Students & Alumni

Earlier this month, we took our Leadership Labs a step further by creating intentional connections between our primary students and alumni. Our alumni cohort played an active role in mentoring younger students by:

- Leading leadership lessons
- Facilitating games and workshops
- Pairing up with mentees for yearlong guidance

This initiative is fostering a powerful sense of community and continuity, ensuring that leadership is passed down from one generation of BHP students to the next.

Celebrating Success & Looking Ahead

One of the most rewarding moments of this quarter was celebrating our high-performing students and honor roll recipients. Recognizing their hard work and dedication is an essential part of our program, inspiring all students to strive for excellence. As we continue refining Leadership Labs, we are excited about what’s ahead! With a stronger curriculum, more mentorship, and expanded opportunities, our students are on the path to becoming the next generation of empowered, ethical, and impactful leaders.
