Driven by Grit, Grounded by Grace
Frederick Kisada joined Building Hope Project after years of educational instability. Initially abandoned and unable to attend school, he was taken in by an aunt—a dedicated teacher at Kiira Primary—who did her best to support him despite the limited resources. When she could no longer manage the costs, BHP stepped in, offering the consistent educational support and structure he needed. Though he was quiet and guarded at first, Frederick quickly proved himself to be both hardworking and academically gifted. Through the expectations of discipline and mentorship within the program, he matured into a student respected by his teachers and peers alike.
After completing primary school with strong grades, Frederick faced the challenge of affording secondary education. With help from extended family and support from BHP connections, he persevered—eventually earning a place at Islamic University in Uganda. Determined to finish, Frederick worked side jobs during school breaks and even launched a small business transporting construction materials using an old truck he helped repair. His tenacity helped him stay enrolled until he finally earned his degree. Today, as a proud BHP graduate, Frederick is excited to reconnect with the alumni network and give back to the very community that helped raise him. His story is a powerful reminder that perseverance, paired with opportunity, can carry a young person farther than anyone imagined.
